Konami Gaming’s Fortune Cup, a 12-player, arcade-style horse racing game that combines electro-mechanical and digital technology to the presentation of a miniature horse race, recently was installed at Studio City Macau, according to Konami’s Macau distributor, Asia Pioneer Entertainment (APE).
Fortune Cup combines the mechanics of a traditional horse-racing game, such as the legendary Sigma Derby, with digital video animation that reproduces the movements of eight horse figurines racing around a 108-inch track. Touch-screen terminals show odds, race statistics and bet options for win, place and quinella.
The large LCD video monitor offers a sports broadcast of each race, with Cantonese voice-overs for these broadcasts are jointly produced by APE and renowned Hong Kong horse racing commentator Samuel Hung.
According to APE, a unit of Konami’s Fortune Cup was installed at a new electronic table games (ETG) zone at Studio City before year-end 2019. During that year, a unit of the game had been installed respectively in an aggregate of five casinos in Macau, including Wynn Macau and Wynn Cotai, MGM Cotai, and one other resort that APE said had declined to be identified by name.
