Macquarie Bars Credit Cards for Gambling

The Macquarie Group in Australia has banned gambling and lottery transactions on its credit cards due to growing concern over easy access to credit for gamblers. The changes will take effect July 1.

Starting July 1, Australia’s Macquarie Group will prohibit the use of its credit cards for gambling and lottery transactions.

Any transactions classified as gambling will be blocked when the card holder tries to pay or seeks a cash advance, the Australian Financial Review reported.
