Maine’s two casinos, the Hollywood Casino in Bangor and the Oxford Casino showed no increase in revenues over the year before. The casinos together contributed million in taxes this year.
The Bangor casino recorded $459.6 million in wagering in 2014 compared to $468.9 million the year before. The official receipts for the Oxford Casino have not yet been released, but unofficial estimates are that state taxes from the casino will only be $7,600 more than last year.
Weather often plays a significant role in attendance figures in the winter, when a few extra snowstorms can drive down revenues. Oxford, which opened in 2012, saw the effects of a new casino, which usually enjoys more customers for the first year of operation. That effect appears to have vanished.
Both casinos noted more table play revenues. Oxford Casio has 846 machines and 26 tables, compared to 900 slots and 16 tables for Hollywood Casino.
