Northern England is set to welcome its largest gaming venue with the scheduled opening this fall of the £150 million Victoria Gate Casino in Leeds.
Andrew Herd, chief executive of developers Global Gaming Ventures, called the 50,000-square-foot project “a unique venue on a grand scale unlike anything seen before in the north of England”.
Victoria Gate will house 140 slot machines, 24 live and 80 electronic table games and one of the biggest poker rooms in Britain.
It will employ 205 full-time staff.
“Although this is a venue in the heart of Leeds, staffed by people from the city, our customers will not just be Leeds-based,” Herd said. “Evidence shows us that a venue like a super-casino attracts visitors from the region and beyond, bringing investment into the area.”
