Because of an objection by a member of the EU to the European Council, the Malta Gaming Authority has delayed introducing its revised Gaming Act until August 1.
The EU member, which was not named, reportedly submitted a detailed opinion to the European Council, which the MGA will review.
In May the Malta Parliament approved several new parts to the Gaming Act, which included beefing up the MGA’s ability to enforce the act. Those provisions include beefed up provisions for consumer protection and anti-money-laundering. The consumer protections include a mediator between players and casino operators.
