The Thompson region of Northern Manitoba has been chosen by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs as the next site for a First Nation’s casino.

The assembly says it has support for the project from Thompson Mayor Tim Johnston and local MLA Steve Ashton, according to a press release.

A date for the opening has not been set. The casino is expected to create about 140 jobs and will be similar in size to facilities in The Pas and in downtown Winnipeg, the release said.
