Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has set its much-anticipated opening for March 25.
Located on Paradise Road about a mile east of the Strip at the site of the former Hard Rock Las Vegas, the property had been targeted for a fall 2020 debut, but the Covid crisis put it on hold.
“It has been a journey, but to finally reach this milestone and confidently announce our opening date would not be possible without our incredible partners and construction team,” said Richard Bosworth, CEO of JC Hospitality, the developer and leader of a consortium of investors that includes Richard Branson’s Virgin Group.
The consortium bought the Hard Rock in 2019 for $500 million, closed it early last year, and spent more than $200 million on the revamp and rebranding.
The new property will feature 1,500 rooms and suites operated under the umbrella of Hilton Hotel’s Curio Collection. There will be 12 restaurants, a 4,500-seat theater, 130,000 square feet of conventions and meetings space, a five-acre pool and 13,000 square feet of outdoor entertainment and events space.
The 60,000-square-foot casino will be run by Mohegan Gaming, the casino management arm of Connecticut’s Mohegan Indian Tribe.
