Maryland Casino Revenue Rises

Maryland’s six casinos generated $130.5 million in revenue during June, a 39.8 percent year-on-year increase with the three smallest casinos all seeing increases. MGM’s National Harbor (l.) was the revenue leader with more than $50 million from slots and tables.

Maryland’s casino industry registered a significant year-on-year increase in June, according to numbers released by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission.

Maryland’s casinos totaled $130,480,062 in revenue during June 2017—an increase of $37,114,143, or 39.8 percent compared to June 2016.

In a year-to-year comparison not including MGM National Harbor, which opened on Dec. 8, 2016, statewide casino revenue in June 2017 decreased by $13,021,491, or 13.9 percent.

MGM National Harbor generated $50.1 million from both slot machines and table games in June. Maryland Live Casino totaled $41.8 million from both slot machines and table games in June. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore generated $22.1 million from both slot machines and table games in June.

The state’s three small casinos all saw year-on-year increases in June. Hollywood Casino Perryville generated $6.3 million from both slot machines and table games in June, an increase of 5.8 percent from June 2016. The Casino at Ocean Downs generated $5.5 million from slot machines in June, and its gross gaming revenue per unit per day was $230.94. Casino at Ocean Downs’ June 2017 revenue increased by $482,118, or 9.5 percent from June 2016.

Rocky Gap Casino Resort generated $4.5 million in gaming revenue, an 8.6 percent increase over June 2016.
