Maryland’s six casinos set a single-month revenue record last month, logging $169.2 million after capacity restrictions were lifted for most of the venues. The revenue figure was $5.9 million more than the previous record, set in March 2019.
The state lifted its 50 percent capacity restriction for casinos on March 12, with the exception of MGM National Harbor and Horseshoe Baltimore, which remained at 50 percent under local jurisdictional orders. While there are no capacity restrictions at the other casinos, social distancing requirements remain, which means not all gaming seats can be occupied.
Casino gaming contributions to the state in March 2021 totaled $71 million, an increase of $3.57 million (5.3 percent) compared to the $67,431,111 contributed to the state in March 2019.
In 2020, all casinos were closed from March 16 to June 19 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
