In April, Maryland’s five casinos posted their most profitable month ever, with total combined monthly revenues of 3.9 million, beating the .95 million in revenue posted in July 2015. The new record is an increase of .9 million, or 16.8 percent, over April 2015 for the five casinos, according to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Agency.
Horseshoe Casino Baltimore posted a record $30.2 million in revenue in April, a 31.9 percent increase over April 2015—despite closing at 9 p.m. for the last few days of the month because of unrest following the death of Freddie Gray. Horseshoe General Manager and Senior Vice President Erin Chamberlin said, “Our April revenues represent a high point in what has been an ongoing trend of strong year-over-year growth resulting from innovative marketing and promotions initiatives, as well as a comprehensive mix of best-in-class entertainment offerings.”
Maryland Live Casino in Hanover, the state’s largest, posted $57.8 million in revenue for April 2016, up $6.8 million, or 13.4 percent, over April 2015.
Casino at Oceans Downs reported an increase of $4.7 million, or 8.9 percent, in April 2016 versus April 2015. Rocky Gap Casino Resort in reported an increase of $4.2 million, or 6.1 percent, over April 2015. Finally, Hollywood Casino Perryville posted $7 million or 2 percent more revenue in April 2016 over April 2015.
