Maryland Live! Unveils $200 Million Expansion Plan

Four years into its successful run as the state’s largest casino, Maryland Live! is going to get even bigger. Construction is slated to start in the fall on a 310-room hotel, a 15,000-seat entertainment venue, a spa and fitness center, new retail and meeting space and several new restaurants

The Cordish Companies unveiled plans last week for a 0 million expansion of its Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, the largest and most elaborate investment in the resort since it debuted in the Baltimore market four years ago.

The centerpiece of the expansion, the 17-story Live! Hotel, will add 350,000 square feet of space to the state’s largest gaming venue in the form of 310 guest rooms and suites, a day spa, salon and fitness center, new restaurants, an events center, new meeting spaces and 1,000 more parking spaces.

Cordish Global Gaming Group President Robert J. Norton described the expansion as “just the latest investment we are making to ensure Maryland Live! continues to be the preferred choice for visitors seeking a world-class gaming and entertainment experience.”

Groundbreaking is slated for the fall with a completion date set currently for the fourth quarter of 2017.

When it is finished, the resort will offer a state-of-the-art 1,500-seat showroom, flexible pre-function meeting space with an executive boardroom and banquet seating for up to 800.

The expanded F&B will include a 24-hour café with open kitchen, a gelato bar and a 50-seat lobby bar.

A Shop Live! retail store will round out the attractions.

Construction will provide around 550 jobs, Cordish said, and 400 new permanent jobs, together with vendor opportunities for local, minority-owned and women- and veteran-owned businesses.
