Massachusetts Extends Casino Closures to May 4

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has extended the closing of all casinos in the Bay State to May 4. The vote by the five member commission was unanimous and applies to all three casinos, Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor in Everett.

This is in keeping with Governor Charlie Baker’s March 14 stay-at-home order closing all but essential businesses. The commission followed that order by extending the shutdown on March 25.

The state’s simulcast operators are also closed as non-essential businesses.

The state’s three casinos generated about $86 million in gross revenue in February and paid about $24.3 million in state taxes.
