Massachusetts Senators Try Again on Sports Betting

Sports betting is among the almost 1,000 amendments filed to the Massachusetts state budget for FY 2022. Debate will begin May 24.

State Senators Bruce Tarr and Paul Feeney have filed competing bills that would allow sports betting, but their bills are just two of several that have been filed. Governor Charlie Baker’s January budget proposal indicated his support for sports betting, which he estimated would bring in $35 million the first year.

However, there isn’t any current support in the House, which did not include a sportsbook element in its budget.
