Massachusetts Still Bans Roulette, Craps at Casinos

At its August 13 meeting the Massachusetts Gaming Commission declined to allow the Bay State’s three casinos to restart roulette and craps games that were stopped due to the pandemic. Blackjack was approved to operate, along with slot machines, when the casinos reopened two weeks ago.

The panel, meeting in a teleconference, cited concerns over a rising level of Covid-19 infections. Commission Chairwoman Cathy Judd-Stein said, “At this juncture, it just wouldn’t be prudent to expand the options right now,” adding “We’ll always be monitoring the public health metrics.”

Two of the state’s three casinos, the Encore Boston Harbor and MGM Springfield, offer table games. Both had asked to be able to offer them again. They were not allowed the games when they reopened in July.
