Maverick Gaming in Full Growth Mode

Maverick Gaming has expanded its presence in Northern Nevada with the purchase of three casinos in Elko.

The privately held Las Vegas-based operator added the Red Lion Casino, Gold Country Casino and the High Desert Inn to an upstate portfolio that includes the Wendover Nugget and the Red Garter in nearby West Wendover on the border with Utah.

The purchase brings Maverick’s hotel inventory in the state to some 1,200 rooms.

The company plans to close later this month on its 2018 acquisition of publicly traded Nevada Gold & Casinos (NYSE: UWN), which will add nine Washington state casinos to the portfolio, including seven in the greater Seattle market.

Maverick bought three Seattle-area casinos from Great Canadian Gaming in April. With the close of both purchases, the company will command around 1,500 slot machines, 200 table games and 1,200 hotel rooms nationwide.
