Melbourne Announces Major eSport event

Melbourne will host Australia’s largest ever eSports event through a with TEG Live—a Sydney-based live events company—and eSports company ESL. The event will be held in Melbourne event for the next five years and is expected to generate up to $25 million for Victoria, adding to jobs and boosting local business.

Melbourne officials have announced a new major eSports event to be held in the city’s sporting precinct for the next five years.

The event will be run through a partnership with TEG Live—a Sydney-based live events company—and eSports company ESL. It is expected to draw at 25,000 Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and the Melbourne Park Function Centre.

Victoria’s Minister for Sports and Major Events, John Eren, says Melbourne will become every gamers dream, “With millions of gamers at home and abroad, it’s time to bring all the action and fanfare of eSports to our backyard.”
