Merkur Opens Third Casino in Saxony-Anhalt

The new Merkur Spielbank Halle casino in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt opened its doors last week. It is the state’s third casino opened in the state by the Gauselmann Group.

Merkur Spielbank Halle is operated by Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt, a joint venture between the Eastern Westphalian Gauselmann Group and the Swiss Stadtcasino Baden. The casino covers 800 square meters (8,600 square feet) and features a mix of slot machines alongside a bar and lounge area.

“We are thrilled that everyone involved in the project managed to complete the build so quickly and get the casino up and running in time to open our doors before the end of the year,” said Spielbank director Marcus L Brandenburg in an interview with Yogonet. “We’ll celebrate properly at the official opening in February 2019.”

The casino was designed by interior designer and architect Susanne Rasspe and came at a total cost of €4.5 million.

Merkur Spielbank Halle will be managed by Tobias Hellbach, who has been part of the regional team since the 2014 opening in Leuna-Günthersdorf. “Tobias is the perfect man for the job,” said Brandenburg, according to Yogonet. “He not only knows the industry inside out, but Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt as well.”

”I really enjoy my work here and am especially looking forward to my next challenge,” added Hellbach.
