MGM China Launches New Responsible Gambling Employee Care Program

MGM China has announced the launch of a new responsible gambling program for staff to help increase and strengthen safer gambling knowledge across its workforce in Macau.

The MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program will cover the group’s two properties in Macau. MGM owns and operates both MGM Macau and MGM Cotai in the region.

According to the operator, the program will provide staff with an extensive, sustainable, and efficient platform for responsible gambling promotion. This will include road shows, pop-up interactive games, online quiz games and advanced training and courses.

It comes in direct response to the Macau government’s policies and directions in promoting responsible gaming. MGM said it will also support the “healthy and orderly” development of the tourism and leisure industry in the region.

Entities backing the new program include the University of Macau, the Social Welfare Bureau of Macau, and the Education and Youth Development Bureau of Macau.

MGM Committed to Strengthening Workers’ Skills

The initiative will run together with the existing MGM RG Community Engagement Scheme, which launched last year. These two programs, MGM said, will promote social advocacy and strengthen the professional skills of its employees.

“We aspire to leverage diverse and innovative approaches in this new program to reinforce our team members’ understanding and execution on responsible gambling while building a solid foundation for the long-term stability and sustainable development of society,” MGM said.

“Moving forward, MGM will continue to collaborate with all sectors to further promote RG-related information by upholding Macau’s policies, in a bid to foster a healthy and harmonious society.”

The announcement comes after the conclusion of this year’s “Golden Week” in Macau. The five-day Chinese holiday, which started on 1 May, draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the region each year.
