Also opening President’s Club for premium-mass
Hong Kong-listed MGM China Holdings Ltd. will launch the first VIP gaming rooms at its MGM Cotai resort in Macau next month, according to Chief Executive Officer Grant Bowie. By early 2019, the operator expects to have five such rooms up and running at the new property.
“In total, we have facilities for five operators,” said Bowie. “We’re looking for two in September and probably another two in October and a fifth will open early next year.” According to a report in GGRAsia, analysts expect the initial junket rooms to be run by Suncity Group, Guangdong Group, Tak Chun Group, David Group and Meg-Star International.
“We’re very happy that the construction is nearly completed, and the licensing process is being finalized,” Bowie told reporters. He did not offer details such as the number of tables the company will move from its peninsula property to the Cotai destination.
In January, the US$3.5 billion resort was allocated 100 new-to-market live-dealer tables under the city’s 3 percent annual table cap. It will receive an additional 25 tables on January 1, and has been authorized to move 77 tables from MGM Macau in the city’s traditional downtown casino district.
Along with the new VIP rooms, MGM Cotai will also open a new facility called President’s Club, described by MGM China as “an ultimate exclusive gaming area” for premium-mass customers, high rollers who don’t deal in credit from junket investors.
