MGM Grand Offers Golf Tournaments

For the first time, players in Las Vegas can compete for cash and prizes using their golf skills instead of luck in weekend tournaments at MGM Grand's Golfstream indoor laser golf course in the Level Up alternative gaming area (l.). Tournaments include putting, closest-to-the-pin and longest drive challenges. Buy-ins are $20 and the top four players win the prizes.

Since last month, MGM Grand in Las Vegas has been hosting skill-based golf tournaments for cash prizes on Golfstream’s indoor laser golf course in Level Up, the resort’s interactive lounge. The tournaments—including the Putting Challenge, Closest-to-the-Pin Challenge and Longest Drive Challenge–represent the first time players in Las Vegas could compete for prizes using golf skills, not luck.

Buy-in for the tournaments is $20. The top four players claim the cash or prizes. The contests are held at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday.

MGM Grand President and Chief Operating Officer Scott Sibella said, “We have created a fun, social atmosphere at Level Up that gives the next generation of gamers the entertainment experience they have come to expect from MGM Grand.”

Golfstream Chief Executive Officer Darren Dummit added, “We are excited to be at the forefront of this new era where technological advances and interactive, skill-based activities are changing the Las Vegas landscape. Pulling a lever on a slot machine is terrific, but rolling in a putt on the casino floor for cash and prizes is something truly unique that we’re all excited to bring to Las Vegas.”
