MGM Improving National Harbor Roads

In preparation for the future opening of the $1.3 billion MGM National Harbor casino, hotel and entertainment complex in Oxon, Maryland, MGM Resorts International is spending $10 million on road improvements. Planned projects include widening roads, building turn lanes and a traffic circle, adding parking and adjusting traffic signals and signs.

MGM Resorts International announced it will spend million on road improvements at MGM National Harbor in Oxon, Maryland, in preparation for increased traffic upon the opening of the .3 billion casino, hotel and entertainment complex, originally set for late summer. The projected opening now is scheduled for December.

The road improvements are planned to widen roads, build turn lanes and a traffic circle, add parking and adjust traffic signs and signals. In addition a circulator bus route will be created, offering a $5 daily pass ticket.

National Harbor Senior Vice President of Operations Kent Digby said, “There’s a very comprehensive signage program being installed with all new overhead signs, new directions, new roadway indications. There is a comprehensive traffic plan for the opening.”
