MGM National Harbor Launches Dealer School

MGM National Harbor held a Dealer School Open House last week to preview what it takes to be a dealer at the casino, which opens later this year.

MGM National Harbor in Maryland kicked off its Dealer School with an Open House for prospective students. The session was designed to demonstrate what it takes to be a dealer at the casino, which is expected to open by the end of the year.

“My job is to get everybody out here in this community to work,” said Jeffery Elmore, vice president of table games for MGM National Harbor, in an interview with the local CBS affiliate. “It’s very rare that you can walk into a dealer job with no experience. We want to train people here in the community, give them that opportunity. If they come in and invest in themselves, we’ll invest back into them.”

Held at an off-property location, it was the first of two open-house events last week. This week, classes start for blackjack, with a tuition of $360. It is a prerequisite for other classes, which will be for an additional cost. MGM indicated that tuition assistance will be offered in some cases.
