MGM Springfield Makes Changes

As is normal after grand openings of new casinos, MGM Springfield is making some adjustments to its operations, including increased drink service on the casino floor and the addition of more popular slots and lower-limit table games.

MGM Springfield Makes Changes

The $960 million MGM Springfield opened in August and it’s already making some adjustments in operations in answer to customer comments received during the first three months.

During the first five weeks of operation revenue was $42.5 million, according to a third-quarter earnings report. This is considered to be within normal expectations.

The management heard—and acted on—complaints from social media that there was a lack of drink service for players on the casino floor. But it also learned that the rental price for scooters was considered too high and that there aren’t’ enough video poker machines.

It’s fairly normal to make alternations during a casino’s “shakedown” cruise, according to MGM Springfield spokesman Saverio Mancini.

MGM plans to address customer feedback with these changes: It will hire more cocktail waitresses to serve players on the gaming floor. It is taking steps to improve traffic flow in the garage during the casino’s busiest times. It has increased the number of video poker machines from 59 to 95.

The management has also added Top Dollar slot machines and a Wheel of Fortune to the High Limit area. It also added more $10 blackjack and roulette tables. Previously there were no $10 table games.

MGM has also added Let it Ride poker and the high card game “War” to the table games offered.

It has expanded casual dining hours and reduced valet charges and expanded the inventory of cigars in the gift shop.

Oh, yes! The price to rent a 24-hour scooter has been slashed, from $50 to $35.
