Michigan Regulators Approve Tribal Internet Provider

The Michigan Gaming Control Board recently approved 888 Holdings’ VHL Michigan LLC as the new platform provider for the Hannahville Indian Community’s internet casino gaming and sports betting site, under the Sports Illustrated brand.

The Hannahville tribe, which operates Island Resort and Casino in Harris, Michigan, entered an agreement with 888 Holdings after Twin Spires announced plans last year to exit the business. Twin Spires was the original platform provider for the tribe’s internet casino gambling and online sports betting site and no longer operates in Michigan.

The Hannahville Indian Community was one of 10 licensees originally authorized by the MGCB to debut online casino gaming and sports wagering in the state on January 22, 2021. Michigan’s 15th internet gaming and sports betting operator was licensed in April 2022. Licenses are limited to the state’s three commercial casinos and 12 federally recognized tribes.
