The village council of Mackinaw City, Michigan recently voted 5-1 to approve Class III, Las Vegas-style gaming at Odawa Casino, owned by the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. Tribal officials said the license will allow the Mackinaw City casino to offer the same types of slots found at the tribe’s casino in Petoskey.
Odawa Casino General Manager Eric McLester said, “We’re always looking for ways to make playing at Odawa Casino as fun and exciting as possible for guests. So we’re delighted to be able to provide Vegas-style action with all new Class III machines in Mackinaw City. This truly brings the Odawa Casino experience to the tip of the mitt.”
The license also allows the Mackinaw City casino to offer more slots; currently it has about 120 machines. McLester said the new machines will be installed in phases over the next few months. The first batch will arrive “very soon,” he said. In summer 2018 a major expansion is planned for the 5,000 square foot Mackinaw City location, opened as a satellite location in 2016. The project will include a bar and grill plus another 100 new slots.
