Minnesota Casino Exec Resigns, Allegedly Misused Credit Cards

Gary Gotchik has resigned as chief executive officer at Fortune Bay Casino in Nett Lake, Minnesota, over allegations of misusing credit cards. A federal investigation has begun, according to the Bois Forte Tribal Council. Casino employees discovered Gotchik's actions and reported them to the council.

Gary Gotchik, chief executive officer at Fortune Bay Resort in Nett Lake, Minnesota, recently resigned over allegations of credit card misuse. Federal authorities are investigating the case, according to a statement by the Bois Forte Tribal Council.

Employees at Fortune Bay discovered the alleged credit card misuse and informed the reservation Tribal Council. The council immediately moved to prevent further loss, secure evidence and initiate a comprehensive review of all credit card transactions at Fortune Bay, including those involving Gotchik. The review determined no other employee or official had engaged in improper transactions.

Gotchik’s gaming license was suspended and he resigned shortly after being suspended without pay.

The Bois Forte Tribal Council emphasized that the integrity of gaming at Fortune Bay was not compromised and at no time was there danger of unsuitable, unfair or illegal activities in the conduct of gaming. The council has directed casino staff to cooperate fully in the federal investigation.
