Effective July 1, guests must be at least 21 years of age to enter the casino, restaurants, hotel or pool at the Silver Slipper Casino in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
General Manager John Ferrucci explained resort personnel “tried desperately” to avoid the policy change. But too often, employees had to speak to parents and guardians about maintaining responsibility for children. Ferrucci said, “They cannot be left unattended at all.” He noted visitors must cross the casino floor to access the buffet and restaurants at Silver Slipper. The pool deck has always been restricted to adults only.
Ferrucci said the facility was cited by the Mississippi Gaming Commission. “I’m not doing it anymore. We invite parents to come back when they have a babysitter,” Ferrucci said.
He said he expected a lot of canceled reservations, but instead he’s “getting a lot of support.” The majority of hundreds of comments on Facebook were in favor of the new adults-only policy. “Take your kids to a family resort. Casinos are for adults,” one commenter posted.
