Mississippi casino revenue has steadily increased since sports betting was legalized last August. The trend continued in May, as gamblers lost $184 million, nearly 2 percent more than in May 2018, according to state gaming commission numbers. The figure includes $1.2 million in sports betting revenue at casinos.

Revenue grew 2 percent over May 2018 at the 15 river casinos to $74 million. This represents the ninth increase in 10 months for the region, even though Tunica Roadhouse Casino & Hotel closed in January and Penn National’s Resorts Casino closed recently.

Revenue rose 2.2 percent over May 2018 at the 12 coastal casinos, to $109 million—the sixth consecutive year of revenue growth.

Statewide revenue increased 4 percent over the last 12 months.

Figures do not include Choctaw Indian casinos, which don’t report revenue totals to the state.
