Mississippi Legislator Introduces Mobile Sports Betting Bill

In a 110-4 vote, Mississippi lawmakers passed a mobile sports betting bill sponsored by state Rep. Casey Eure (l.) that was amended to create a task force to recommend oversight and regulation. Sports betting is allowed on-site at retail and tribal casinos.

Mississippi Legislator Introduces Mobile Sports Betting Bill

The Mississippi House of Representatives recently voted 110-4 to pass legislation allowing mobile sports betting.

Sponsored by state Rep. Casey Eure, House Bill 606 was amended to create an 11-member Mobile-Online Sports Betting Task Force to study mobile sports wagering and make recommendations regarding oversight and regulation. A final report would be due by October 15.

Currently, legal sports wagering only can take place on-site at the state’s 23 retail and tribal casinos.

The task force would include the executive director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, the commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Revenue, the executive director of the Mississippi Gaming and Hospitality Association and six members appointed by the House and Senate Gaming Committee chairs.
