Mobile Gambling Beginning To Boom

Juniper Research predicts by 2018, more than 164 million people will use their smartphones or tablets to gamble every day. Previously Juniper predicted mobile gambling revenue would hit $100 billion by 2017. The only thing stopping a mobile casino gambling boom in North America is restrictive legislation.

A recently released report by Juniper Research indicated the mobile casino boom began last year as smartphones and tablets became more widespread with advanced technology. The report predicted that by 2018, more than 164 million players will use their devices to gamble every day. Juniper previously reported that mobile gambling revenue would reach 0 billion by 2017.

Analysts said North America will play an important role in the growth of mobile gambling once legislative restrictions start to ease. Per Eriksson, chief executive officer at software developer Net Entertainment, recently told Bloomberg, “Mobile gambling is increasing, because now you can play casino games wherever you are. Apple and all the other mobile devices are very important for our industry. It’s incremental revenues coming in for us.”

According to Eriksson, Net Entertainment’s mobile branch only accounts for 13 percent of revenue, but he expects that to reach 60 percent in the near future. Net Entertainment had 16.2 billion transactions in 2013.
