U.S. tribal operator Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment has been granted all necessary permits to proceed with its Inspire resort in South Korea. The entertainment complex will open in June 2022.
Phase I of the multi-year project will cost $1.29 billion and feature a five-star, 1,250-room hotel, 15,000-seat arena, convention space and a foreigners-only casino. The fourth and final phase won’t open until 2031.
“We are under construction as we speak and we are looking forward to opening in early part of 2022,” said Mario Kontomerkos, CEO of MGE. “Inspire will be unlike any other integrated resort in Asia and the reason for that in addition to the typical amenities that you will see in an integrated resort, we are also going to integrate seamlessly into this resort a 15,000-seat arena that will bring Western concert entertainment as well as Korean and other Asian concert entertainment.
“We will be bringing Digital Street, which will be a great showcase for local Korean food, retail and technological talent and finally we will have a theme park that will be unlike any other in Asia,” he said.
Located on more than 420 acres at Incheon Airport, Inspire will have a gaming floor offering 150 table games and 700 slots/electronic games. A hemispherical dome will featuring more than 48,000 square feet of climate-controlled indoor pool space with rides, dining and retail. The destination will offer the largest hotel ballroom in the Incheon-Seoul area at 60,460 square feet.
The $1.1 billion Phase II will launch a Paramount Pictures-branded theme park with connecting entertainment and a retail village; it is scheduled to open in 2025.
