Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) has announced its entry into the iGaming industry with the launch of Mohegan Digital.
With the appointment of Rich Roberts as president and Aviram Alroy as vice president, the new division plans to create an iGaming experience at the flagship Mohegan Sun Connecticut.
This was made possible after Connecticut’s two gaming tribes signed an amendment tribal state gaming compact with Governor Ned Lamont earlier this year.
MGE CEO and President Ray Pineault said in a statement: “We’ve consistently seen strong growth in digital gaming across our properties, especially in this past year, and as legal sports betting continues to expand in the U.S., the timing was right for us to launch Mohegan Digital.
“With Mohegan Digital, we are looking to expand and enhance these efforts to elevate the experience and deliver on our promise to provide world-class entertainment for our guests on a digital scale. With Rich Roberts and Aviram Alroy at the helm, we are excited for what’s to come for Mohegan Digital.”
Roberts was previously executive business consultant for RSD Consulting, a firm that helps businesses enter sports digital media. He was CEO of FaceOff, a social/skill sports gaming platform.
Alroy has worked for MGE since 2014 as vice president of interactive gaming, a division that will now be assimilated by Mohegan Digital. In his new role he will be responsible for product strategy and developing and launching online sports betting and other iGaming solutions, mobile apps and websites.
