Mohegan Sun Pocono Acts to Prevent Underage Gambling

Mohegan Sun Pocono, after being slapped with a fine by Pennsylvania regulators for allowing underage gambling, is making physical changes to its casino to battle the problem.

Pennsylvania’s Mohegan Sun Pocono, after absorbing a ,000 fine for allowing gamblers under age 21 into its casino, is making changes to its floor designed to make it easier for employees to spot underage gamblers.

Mohegan has reduced the number of entrances to the gaming floor from 14 to just four, and has reduced the width of the entrances from 21 feet to 11 feet. The casino also has increased the number of security officers at the entrances, re-trained its security and surveillance team, and installed new identification card scanners.

The changes to battle underage gambling are part of a larger construction program at Mohegan Sun Pocono, which announce last week that it is adding more than 250 new slot machines and table games. The first 100 games already have been installed, in smaller banks with new bases and wide aisles.

Mohegan Sun Pocono also is restoring the stable and practice track area of its harness track, installing a water re-use system that will collect water from stable roofs in a 380,000-gallon impoundment.

The casino also has upgraded its Bally iView system that provides bonusing and promotional communication in a window on the slot screen, with the new iView 4 upgrade from Scientific Games.
