Mohegans Expand Non-Gaming Amenities

Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Casino is upping the game of its non-gaming amenities. It is completing work on five levels of its Sky Tower that will be devoted to providing luxury food and drink to those who don’t necessarily like to gamble.

Mohegans Expand Non-Gaming Amenities

The Mohegan Sun Casino is expanding the non-gaming amenities for guests who like luxury, but not gaming with a new “hotel within a hotel” experience including a restaurant at the top of the Sky Tower. This $7 renovation has been under construction for about a year.

The new hotel will be called Aspire at Mohegan Sun, and it will fill five floors of the hotel tower, with one super luxury floor designed as “Thirty-Three.” The resort expects it to be ready to open by the end of 2018. Although aimed at non-gaming guests and offering a “luxury food and drink experience,” the facility will include a VIP check in, private elevator and four private gaming tables.

High rollers in the gaming industry are often called “whales,” but some of these whales won’t be playing at the tables.

A spokesman for the casino said, “Our goal ultimately is to have this rated as a separate hotel and totally separate experience. We really didn’t have anything that was a level above what we normally offer.”

Mohegan Sun President and General Manager Ray Pineault said “Aspire and Thirty Three will become two of the most opulent experiences Mohegan Sun offers our hotel guests. From the moment Aspire guests arrive to the moment they check-out, they receive VIP treatment, exclusive access and a truly personalized visit. We’re thrilled to launch this offering at the end of the year.”
