Mongolia to Government Workers: Keep Out of Casinos

The Mongolian government reportedly has ordered all civil service workers to stay out of casinos or risk their jobs. That means all casinos around the world; the country currently has no legal casinos of its own.

The government of Mongolia has banned all civil service workers from visiting or gambling inside casinos anywhere in the world, reports the Xinhua News Agency. Anyone who is found violating the rules will be fired. Mongolian Cabinet Secretariat Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene was quoted as telling reporters, “No government official is allowed to gamble”

Mongolia has no legal casinos at present, but has considered approving a foreigners-only casino industry to take advantage of its location between Russia and China.

“Russia, China and Japan are some of the biggest gamblers in the world. Japan and Russia already don’t need visas for Mongolia, and Chinese with official passports don’t either,” Reuters reported at the time, quoting a member of the working party that drafted the bill.
