Montreal Casino to Pay for Overcharging for Alcohol

We’ve all heard of the bartender over-serving. The Montreal Casino, which is owned by Loto-Quebec, is going to pay out more than $102,000 to customers in return for overcharging for alcoholic beverages as the result of a class action lawsuit.

The only way to collect is to eat a meal at the casino, when the amount will be refunded in the price of the meal.

The Le Journal de Quebec reported that attorney Mustapha Mahmoud filed the suit in 2016 when he was charged $7.25 per drink when he should have been charged $5.75 because the bar had different prices for different days of the week.

The casino doesn’t appear to be greatly harmed by this judgment, since it made money from overcharging, and the only way people can get a refund is by spending even more money.
