The UK Department of Culture, Media & Sport has announced the appointment of Bill Moyes as chairman of the country’s Gambling Commission. Moyes will take the helm from Philip Graf CBE.

“I am delighted Bill Moyes is taking up the position as chair of the Gambling Commission,” said Karen Bradley the new UK Secretary for Culture, Media & Sport, appointed in July 2016. “He has a wealth of experience across the public, private and voluntary sectors, which will serve him well at the Gambling Commission.”

Moyes is a civil service veteran who previously served as director general of the British Retail Consortium. From 2004 to 2010 he was the founding executive chairman of the Independent Regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts (Monitor), which authorizes foundation trusts and regulates their finances and governance. Moyes has also served as advisor to the Legal Services Board, the Priory Hospital Group and the Office of Fair Trading.

His appointment was endorsed newly elected UK Prime Minister Theresa May.
