Mystic Lake Casino Hotel Expansion Proceeding

A 9-story, 180-room hotel expansion, scheduled for completion before the Super Bowl on February 4, 2018, will bring the total number of rooms at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel (l.) in Prior Lake, Minnesota to 766. That will make the casino hotel the second largest in Minneapolis after the Hilton Minneapolis, the state's largest.

Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota, owned by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, is in the midst of an expansion that began in spring 2016 and is expected to be completed in early 2018–in time for the February 4 Super Bowl set for U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The hotel will be the second largest the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region, said Group Sales Manager Holland Tudor.

The new addition will be named Mystic Lake Center and will include a 9-story, 180-room hotel tower and 70,000 square feet of meeting and event space. When the project’s completed the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel will have a total of 766 rooms. The Hilton Minneapolis, the state’s largest hotel, has 821 rooms.

Prior Lake Mayor Kirt Briggs commented, “I know there’s been a lot of excitement around the Super Bowl. It’s great to see the growth from the standpoint of visitors to Scott County. It provides visibility into our community.”
