Mystique Casino Now Called Q Casino

Mystique Casino in Dubuque, Iowa recently was renamed Q Casino, hoping to better compete with Diamond Jo Casino and two new Davenport operations. The venue lost 32 percent in revenue from 2008 through 2016. Q Casino will renovate its two restaurants, keep the gaming floor open 24/7 and bring in major musical acts.

To help regain a competitive edge, the Mystique Casino in Dubuque recently changed its name to Q Casino. Revenue has declined 32 percent there from 2008 through 2016. Dubuque’s other casino, Diamond Jo, opened in December 2008 and has posted revenue increases of 68 percent. Q Casino officials said they’re also losing customers to two new casinos in Davenport.

Prior to 2009 the casino was called the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino.

Besides the name change, Q Casino’s two restaurants will be renovated and the gaming floor will remain open 24/7. Also several major musical acts are scheduled to perform there. Q Casino Vice President Brian Southwood said, “It is a way for us to maybe keep up with it. We just want to get back what we lost, bring some of our customers back and hopefully bring some new customers to us.”
