N.H. Senate Takes Up Casino Gaming

The perennial issue of a casino in the Granite State is once more before the New Hampshire Senate. if sponsor Senator Lou D’Allesandro succeeds in getting passage, the bill will face rocky shoals in the House.

The New Hampshire Senate this week is considering a casino gaming bill. The bill, authored by Senator Lou D’Allesandro, would authorize one casino.

It is similar to a bill last year, except that one called for two casinos. It passed but was rejected by the House.

Incumbent Governor Maggie Hassan has supported a casino all during her term, but the candidates trying to replace her this November are not so positive.

The bill originally called for a casino at Rockingham Park in Salem, but was amended to make the location subject to a bidding process.

The Senate has passed several similar bills over the last decade only to see all of them killed in the House.
