NACE Adopts Esports Regulations

The National Association of Collegiate Esports membership took steps to becoming a regulatory agency for eSports at colleges by approving several bylaws and constitution changes.

A major step was the creation of “intent” letters for eSports players intended to curb player poaching between schools. About 150 groups are now members of the association.

The new guidelines were adopted during the NACE National Convention at Harrisburg University. More than 120 NACE member institutions attended, according to ESPN.

According to the network, about 42 members came together on the final day of the convention to confirm NACE’s new board of directors and its competition council and also decide on the creation of an “intent to compete” letter.

Since its creation in July 2016, NACE has grown from six founding members to nearly 150 members.
