Michael J. Anderson, founder and owner of Anderson Indian Law, was recently honored with the Native American Bar Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Anderson accepted the award from Native American Bar Association President Lisa Meissner, and was cited for his outstanding service to tribal governments, the United States Senate and the Clinton administration, where he served for eight years.
“I came to Washington, D.C., 39 years ago for law school, and it has been
an amazing journey ever since,” said Anderson. “We all serve a cause greater than ourselves, the protection of tribal sovereignty and Indian
Country. I look forward to working with each of you on common goals in the future.”
Prior to founding his private law practice, Anderson served for eight years in the Clinton administration at the U.S. Department of the Interior as
associate solicitor and deputy assistant secretary for Indian Affairs, and
later as the acting assistant secretary for Indian Affairs. In 2009, Anderson was named by Global Gaming Business Magazine as one of the “Ten Most Influential People in Gaming.”
