Navajo Nation Casinos Remain Closed

Navajo Nation casino facilities will remain closed until July 27 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. This extends the executive order of President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer.

Navajo Gaming Interim Chief Executive Officer Brian Parrish said, “During the closure we continue to keep our team members on paid administrative leave, of which 82 percent are members of the Navajo Nation, to minimize hardships during these unprecedented times. They are able to provide for their families and still have health care benefits which includes an excellent Employee Assistance Program. This allows them to help stabilize their families and communities during the crisis.”

Parrish said Navajo Gaming has prepared a reopening plan “that is a living and breathing document which is constantly enhanced with the newest and latest protocols and safety measures.” He said when the facilities reopen, Navajo Gaming will implement new health and safety measures including mandatory masks for employees, social distancing on the casino floor, all food and beverage locations and other high traffic areas.
