NBC Sports Group to Televise Poker

The NBCUniversal sports media division has signed an agreement with Poker Central to present poker programming on its TV and digital platforms. Poker Central recently abandoned its efforts to create its own network, which only achieved limited distribution. The programming will air on NBCSN as well as NBCSports.com.

NBC’s sports network will offer poker programming under a new deal between NBCUniversal sports media division and Poker Central.

Poker Central had tried to create its own network, but abandoned the project later last year after achieving only limited distribution.

Poker Central programming will debut on NBCSN on Monday nights with the Super High Roller Bowl, set to debut May 28-31 in Las Vegas. NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will provide streaming coverage for Poker Central content, the company said in a press release.

Poker Central is a privately held company formed by poker pro Cary Katz and includes poker pros Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari, according to a report in Variety.

“Partnering with Poker Central allows us to continue to deliver high-quality programming, while creating a destination for both existing and new poker fans alike,” Gary Quinn, VP of programming, NBC Sports Group, said in a press statement.
