NCPG Renews Advisory Board For 2020-2021

The advisory board of the National Council on Problem Gambling has been renewed for the 2020-2021 term. Board members are internationally recognized experts and leaders in problem gambling and responsible gambling. New to the board is gaming industry attorney Nanette L. Horner J.D. (l.), who recently completed two terms on the NCPG board of directors.

NCPG Renews Advisory Board For 2020-2021

The National Council on Problem Gambling announced it has renewed its advisory board for the 2020-2021 term. The board consists of internationally recognized experts and leaders in the fields of problem gambling and responsible gambling who provide the NCPG board of directors with innovative advice and dynamic perspectives on relevant issues.

NCPG Executive Director Keith Whyte said, “The problem and responsible gambling environment in the U.S. is changing rapidly with the continued expansion of casinos, lotteries and the addition of sports betting. NCPG faces an ever more complex ecosystem of issues to address. We are so thankful to and excited for the advisory board members to collaboratively guide NCPG in our efforts to raise awareness about problem gambling and increase resources for addressing this important issue.”

Nanette L. Horner J.D., a gaming industry attorney since 1996, will join the advisory board for the new term. She was the first director of the Office of Compulsive and Problem Gambling with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, where she was a regulator and deputy chief counsel assigned to the Bureau of Licensing. Most recently, Horner served as executive vice president, chief counsel and chief compliance officer with Empire Resorts Inc. in New York.

Horner previously worked as a gaming attorney with Brown, Michael & Carroll PC, representing individuals, companies and Native American tribes engaged in legalized gaming. She was an adjunct professor of law at Rutgers School of Law in Camden, New Jersey, teaching courses in casino law. Horner served as the treasurer and chair of several committees during her two terms on the NCPG board of directors, just completed; and is a member of American Mensa and the International Masters of Gaming Law.

In addition, Horner has authored numerous articles for gaming publications and is a popular speaker at gaming and governmental conferences on gaming regulation, corporate social responsibility and problem gambling. She said, “I am honored to be appointed to the advisory board and to continue to have an active role in supporting NCPG’s board of directors and its mission. It is more important than ever for gambling industry, government and regulatory entities to engage in responsible gambling and support for problem gambling services as gambling continues to expand in the US. It is equally important for people in both fields to work together in order to be as effective as possible.”
