Netherlands Investigates Illegal iGaming Sites

The gaming authority of the Netherlands, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has started an investigation and enforcement against illegal online gaming sites.

The authority said it is watching illegal websites and advertisers. It periodically combs online marketing, looking for advertisements for games of chance.

It last identified 44 websites and then launched sanctions against them. In one case it fined a licensed operator €600,000 ($729,942) for illegally offering gaming to Dutch residents.

The Remote Gambling Act went into effect in April and is aimed toward creating a legal online gaming market in October.
