Netherlands Lottery Merger Approved

A unified Netherlands Lottery operator and product will result from the recently approved merger of Staatsloterij and Sichting Nationale Sporttotlisator by the Netherlands' Council of Ministers. Both operators recently had experienced a drop in ticket sales. Revenue generated by the merger will benefit the state, sports and charities.

The Netherlands’ Council of Ministers recently approved the merger of national lottery operators Staatsloterij and Sichting Nationale Sporttotlisator. Both recently had experienced declines in ticket sales. The merger will result in the creation of a unified Netherlands Lottery operator and product.

Dutch Secretary of State for Finance Eric Wiebes said, “The government has confidence in this merger. There resulting from such an organization a safe and reliable gaming offerings, both offline and online, can continue to offer. The merged organization will form a new state participation. The revenues generated by this participation will benefit the state, sports and charities.”

Staatsloterij currently operates De Nederlands Loterij (Dutch State Lotto) and the Nederlands Sports TOTO. Competitor SNS operates DE LOTTO.
