Netherlands OKs Remote Gaming

Dutch ministers have passed the first hurdle in adding online gaming to the country’s menu of wagers. The betting will center around lottery and sports wagers.

Bill must pass two other legislative bodies

The Netherlands Council of Ministers, the executive council of the Dutch government, has approved a new remote gaming bill, according to the website GamingInHolland.com.

The bill must be approved by the Council of State and the Dutch House of Representatives. It could complete the two-pronged approval process by summer.

In a statement, cabinet officials said  recognizes the contribution made by lotteries to good causes and sport, and added that proposed reforms to the lottery system would also be submitted to parliament by the middle of this year.
