Nevada Gaming Board Adds ‘Bellagio Bandit’s’ Father

The father of Anthony Michael Carleo, the infamous “Bellagio Bandit,” George Assad, has been added to the Nevada Gaming Control Board 8News reported last week.

The “Bandit” walked into the Bellagio casino on December 14, 2011, shook a gun around and swept $1.5 million in chips off the craps table and fled in a cloud of dust on his Suzuki. His father’s connection to this, besides being his father, is that Carleo complained in court that Assad had cut his allowance because he was tired of his son’s drug abuse and gambling.

Besides his connection to the “Bandit” Assad has also been a municipal court judge in Las Vegas for nine years. Before that he was a Clark County prosecutor and a private attorney.

In appointing Assad, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo commented, “The Nevada Gaming Control Board is a critical state agency, and I’m confident that George will honorably execute the mission of the board. George is an experienced regulator and judge, and I look forward to his service.”
