Nevada Gaming Numbers Slip Again

Casino revenues in Nevada declined for a second month in a row in February. The Gaming Control Board figures indicate a 1 percent drop from the year before.

Gaming revenues in the Silver State fell for a second month in a row in February.

The Gaming Control Board released figures showing that statewide gaming revenues were 1.011 billion, compared to $1.017 billion in 2018, a 1 percent drop.

Gaming revenues were $984.5 million for January, 3 percent less than 2018. This was felt most harshly in Reno, where revenues declined 7.68 percent, compared to Las Vegas, which they declined 1.95 percent.

This despite the fact that visits to Las Vegas grew 2 percent, to 3.189 million.

Deutsche Bank gaming analyst Carlo Santarelli attributed at least some of the decline in gaming numbers to the timing of the Super Bowl, New Year’s Eve and Chinese New Year. “The schedule had a negative impact on high end patronage in the period,” he said.
